Positives: Use of history, the villains, Eduardo's role, teens are hanging out with teens, Brady and Nicole interacting, bubbles bursting, Marlena, sonny, Sonny/Chad, Lucas/Adrienne, Steve/Kayla, Abe, longer scenes, the anticipation of Abigail's return Negatives I had high hopes for JJ/Chad/Gabi. But it's turned into more Chad/gabi. Which I am afraid will bore me to death with all the forced situations to create story. Chad is boring these days. Where is the dimera edge? His place in triangles is getting redundant. Gabi went from firecracker to needy and flighty in a nanosecond. Deimos, Chloe, Nicole, victor, Maggie, Dario |

So far I like the new writing regime. Are they perfect ? Of course not but Ryan & Dena's stuff for now is better than Josh's stuff. More interactions between characters for one, loved seeing Hope atop by to visit Kayla. I like the Theo scenes at the D Mansion with the kids. The teens are hanging out with each other & Ciara is not front & center. I like the Villian trio so far & their connections to all the different people in town. It is not just Clyde after so& so . I will give Josh props for his stuff in the fall, it was miles better than Tomlin's vision. |

I love the villains. I like that they're all targeting different people so that in the end almost every character needs to worry. I hate that Chloe is pregnant. I wish they hadn't written in Nadia's pregnancy. I wish Nicole wasn't into Deimos. I hate that Gabi keeps getting hysterical over... nothing. I don't like the idea of Chad/Gabi. Not only do I want a male/female friendship on this show that NEVER becomes more than that (like I thought they were doing with Brady/Melanie), but I just don't see chemistry. I didn't when Casey played Chad and I don't now. Plus, they've already tried the pairing. They need to get rid of Deimos and Dario or completely change how they're writing them. |

FIRST: The show was better this time last year, but I love a major focus on history & romance! Plus, were coming up on the 50th. I think Josh and Dena worked well at first. To My Surprise; I think it went downhill when Dena left. We all, and not just us may I add......the press and people close to the show, had a wary feeling about Dena. The result was we showered Josh with too much credit. At This Point, it's better than it was before the change. I will also assert that I believe the story's best moments are yet to air!! However, Dena starts with stunts and then the show quickly goes dull!! LOOK BACK: the Rex "Earthquake" which was awful, the Plan Crash which was good, and now the villains, which has been by far the best to me since it yields more than a few episodes of drama. I know the leave was likely for a very good reason, but I wish we would have had Josh and Dena together longer. However, those two are too opinionated to work together. Josh became the biggest disappointment in Days history after an incredible start. To Sum It Up: EVERYTHING went downhill quickly after November 2015. Andre and Deimos are lackluster in every way. Andre acts like Tony, too much so at that! They just need to make him Tony and end it. Stefano went out with a whimper, and I DON"T think Hope should have been the one to pull the trigger. Marlena, John, Roman, hell even Sami had more reason to shoot that enjoyable bastard. A public death in front of the town is the least you could give the best "Super-Villain" in daytime history. Of course he can come back and rectify it, though I'm not holding my breath. Joe is old and tired, and who can blame him. Although I always enjoyed him most when he gave his minions orders to kill or kidnap rather than seeing him do any jobs. I won't go further. We all know Deimos is the new Dan, Maggie is annoying as ever, Nicole became saddled, Marlena and John were reduced to chance episodes, and Belle became the new Sami, with any even sluttier side. (HUGE mistake, and I was glad when she came back, and glad to see her go). Ciara is God-Awful. So yes, this is better, LOL. THE GOOD 1) Now, I have Stayla acting like Stayla and Jarlena acting like Jarlena! PLUS they are working together! You have two of the biggest supercouples in history working together: It's GOLD! A common idiot can see that! The better news: there's a reason! The villains story has made the show have a story that drives the action, and it's a real umbrella story. I love the Stayla/Jarlena interaction! 2) People are mixed together in plots. Josh continued the "People stay in their little orbit" ideology that Tomlin had. Having the three villains together, and fighting each other over who should get revenge first, or how it should be done, has been unexpectedly comical in a good way, and has layered this story. It's enjoyable! The dialogue is the best it's been since Hogan had the pen, In My Opinion! Dialogue is over-rated though! JER is, behind Bill Bell, Days most successful writer in it's history (I'm not ranking by talent), and his dialogue was awful at times. The underpinnings of the story involved make a show enjoyable, and good dialogue is icing on the cake. Josh started with good dialogue.......that ended. Right now we have a strong umbrella story! The villains ALL have a reason to seek revenge against multiple people. There is history there for all of them. I'm even enjoying Clyde (Hell Has Frozen Slap Over). The underpinnings of this story, grounded in history, driven by hate, are strong enough to make the show feel more stable. 3) Theo is actually having issues with his autism. It's because of Dena but I want it respected! Just like Phillip should be limping slightly at times, and mention he has a hard time with stairs after a long day. Let's have these characters keep their issues. 4) They have and are bringing back people, and they are people Josh wouldn't, and didn't bring back. Carrie and Austin should have been back much sooner, but Dena left and she knew the show's history much better. Anna coming back now that Dena is in control is also a show of how much Dena can respect history. They were rumored to return when Dena took her leave. Well, the wrong has been righted. I never expected to see Patsy back again for longer than a half an episode, and though her eye bulging can get crazy, she helped carry this show after Marlena "Died" on that plane with Orephus. Kim from 1987-1990 is one of my favorite leading ladies in Days history. She needs to tone it down this time though. If she does, it will work. Spoiler: click to toggle 5) HORTONS! I'm so glad to see Laura. I'm so glad to see Julie at least semi-consistently (BOTH need to be on more often). Maggie was never the Matriarchal type. I once held out hope for Sarah, but not now. Even if she did return........It'd mean more Maggie! The most enjoyable thing Josh did post December was having Maggie suffer. That sounds cruel but she is ruined for me, and I don't see a path to redemption. THE BAD & UGLY 1) Deimos is the new Daniel and Dena is going to keep him! They are resolving the "Paternity Story", but I fear the triangle will go on, and on, and on for Deimos/Nicole/Chloe. 2) Poor Nadia. That's all I can say. I love Ari too, but Nadia has no chance with this. Nadia's always brought back for horse shit. 3) Most of the teens just need to go and come back once they can be recast. Ciara....why did TPTB think she was so good. They bragged on her, and I defended her at first thinking she would be exceptional eventually. Eventually never became reality. Joey's last story at the commune did more damage than the actor portraying him. Still, he's not that great. Claire is, to me, the best of the teen females. That doesn't mean she's good though. Theo.....I Like Him! 4) Bring Back Will! Chandler has nothing better to do! I put this in bad and ugly cause I want this fixed and nothing has been stated about it yet. I suspect it may eventually happen once Sonny is happy though. 5) Give Rope a break, and just please stop the never ending Rafe is the new Roman pandering! They have made his character so much like Wayne's Roman it's uncanny and disturbing. That's Wayne's role, and I still want him back. Not for Marlena, but for the show. Rafe is just aggravating. Hope is so irritating. They have to give them a long rest.....in prison....off screen. 6) Underneath The Villains Umbrella Story, What is there? Nothing right now, which means it will be good for a while then suck again. I don't see prep to snowball this into another arc yet. That's concerning given Dena's history. 7) There needs to be more house cleaning, and some of the semi-permanent returns should become etched in stone (or at least on contract). I should have this further up the list. Some of these characters just need to exit. Deimos could have been fun, but he's not. I've seen him on other soaps and it's the writing folks, I promise. However, you cannot undo a character's introduction to the show. Don't stone me, but Hope and Rafe need to leave for a year or two, and I'd be glad if Hope came back without Rafe. I am so damn tired of Hope. I'm sorry, I haven't read the boards and people may like what they have done with her, but I am just all Hoped out! 8) We Need More Dimeras. Why should I drink wine produced in Belize when I can drink wine produced in France? Why choose a hamburger over steak? Why is the Kiriakis Mansion overflowing while the Dimera Mansion is empty. This is where I really fall out with Dena every damn time. 9) How Stefano Left The Show Must Be Fixed! Maybe it can be, I don't know. I'll stop there and end with this. Once the show dropped the ball so badly after the 50th reboot started so GREAT has me just...meh. Days was the best it had been in 17 years for about 3-4 months, and then it got as bad as ever, then worse than ever. The show jumped the shark with me, and I won't EVER get too excited again. Only Sheri Anderson returning as HW could make me live in suspense about this show. NOTHING can make me believe it will stay good after they went so wrong so fast. If it hadn't become so damn good for a few months, it wouldn't be as bad. It's left me....apathetic. So excuse me as I realistically enjoy it for the next 2 months, knowing it won't be as good as it was from Late August-Mid December 2015. I also watch knowing that as much as I am enjoying this arc, and it's fun to watch, it will turn to cat piss. I no longer expect anything more or less from Days. |

because I looked so rarely, this is surely no fair review available, but I write what I have seen and thought of. Ok here we go lol positive is that Dena and her co writer at least try to create more stories with family members who integrate with each other. I still miss a lot on the show here are some examples, I do not like characters who are outdated saying no more on this. No couple is exciting, sexy enough. I miss a real power family. Dimeras hardly excites Andre and Chad whatever one is a cartoon character, and the other does not feel like a Dimera at all. Kiriakis is boring as hell no character is exciting new Philip is meh. Hortons, Bradys whatever they are murderers, HYPOCRITE, liars, cheaters, and they are the so-called "good" types. lol Chloe have one of the soap world's hottest actress to play the role and yet they write crap stories with this character ??? Some of my thoughts of what I've seen so far. Edited by The Scorpion, Sep 26 2016, 09:40 AM.

Quibbles? I have plenty but since this is still a "transition" period, I'll keep most of them to myself. But here's the blaring negatives and positives: Negatives: The major ones consist of some Scooby-Doo "err?" moments when something comes out of left field. I'm chalking that up to the fact that Josh only wrote for a core group of characters and stories for the rest of the cast were slapped together and shown once every other week. Also Josh's writing was all over the place - best example Deimos. First he was super mean, then he softened - Josh's own writing was a rollercoaster with this character and his "insta-redemption" Theresa was the worst. From a TPTB standpoint, I see why they want to keep Deimos's character. JA has been "rumored" to have health problems and will eventually retire. TPTB need to find a replacement for Victor before he goes the way of Stefano. Why they don't make WK the new head of the K Family is one of those things that must be a "behind the scenes" thing. Maybe WK doesn't want to, maybe it conflicts with his ability to also work on GH and do his music. It looks like Q/H are adding a little "mean" back into the Deimos character and hopefully by the time the prison con story arc is over they will have him and other characters set up for how they want them to be (Nicole is getting some of her spunk back - yay; teens are now in the background; etc.) I just don't think he's going away and if the problem is the writing (as everyone who has seen VI in other things say) then hopefully he'll get better writing. The JJ/Gabi story seems the roughest at the moment because they had all of 3-4 scenes under Josh so not much to go on. Still mentioning Dead Daniel - although for the most part the references are fewer and can be deemed appropriate to the conversation. They need to just stop though. Maybe Xander will impart some horrific knowledge about Daniel that will burst Nicole's high opinion of The Orange One. Positives: Bubbles bursting! Family members and friends are interacting!!!!! This is the best thing to happen in a few years. The show is actually WATCHABLE now. Some days are good and some days are "meh" - I just keep reminding myself that Q/H have written an umbrella story that features the whole cast and that some players are being transitioned within the story to fix some the really horrible out-of-character writing (Nicole, Hope, etc.) or the non-existent storylines (Lucas/Adrienne, JJ/Gabi). Q/H have managed to get rid of some of the more onerous storylines left over from Josh quite quickly (the custody battle, the Tate kidnapping - I still think the reason they made Kate the Tatenapper is because Spoiler: click to toggle .Focus on the Hernandez Family shifting with some members gone for good (and they can get rid of Dario unless they are going to reboot his character BIG TIME - and it seems lilke they plan to when they put him and Eduardo going into business together - so I'll take a wait and see approach). Focus of OTHER families has been strengthened. I like that they are mentioning, having phone calls with, having scenes with, concerned about, KNOW about family/friends even if the character is off screen (Eric/Stephanie/Billie - Theresa mentioning Joey). The one blaring exception to this is Brady - who still thinks he's a Kiriakis unless he needs his father's help. Argh. My one hope is that they back off the "insta-romances" and they take time to build new couples. They are strengthening John and Marlena and Steve and Kayla. They seemed to have backed off Nicole/Deimos to a degree. Billy Flynn has already spoiled that that Chad/Gabi thing isn't a thing which was really bad form - this type of show needs suspense (same thing with announcing they had recast Abby - her "death" had no meaning because we all knew she wasn't really dead). Lastly, the editing seems to be much improved. Episodes aren't so choppy and there seems to be a good flow (except that scene where Orpheus shoots Steve and kidnaps Joey and one other with Hope but I don't remember the specifics right now - I think it was at the Horton House). ETA - they are bringing Greg Vaughn back as Eric - SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Edited by Inara Serra, Sep 26 2016, 11:10 AM.

Positives: The bubbles are bursting and the show is less dark and depressing. The vets are better used. Meh: The villains. They started out with a bang but they're already getting tedious. Negative: Nicole remains unwatchable for me as a (former?) fan. Gabi's weird hysteria and brattiness over JJ looking for his sister's body. Andre still being around. And everything Kiriakis and the general sexist tone of their story. Deimos is the worst character since Daniel and EJ. He's a mix between the two of them. Edited by GoneGirl, Sep 26 2016, 01:21 PM.

What's Better- More interaction and involvement of the Characters although they are still lacking in scenes with Brady, Marlena, John and Claire she has been there for awhile now how is it Brady has not had at least one scene with his niece. And why didn't Brady go to see John after he was shot or at least call him. Clyde, Orpheus, Xander is a good action storyline for the show but it needs to be wrapped up sooner than November. How much longer can the three of them run around Salem before they are caught. And I don't want Clyde getting his hands on Thomas. The Cons Claire- I like her but right now she doesn't have the sense she was born with there are three dangerous fugitives gunning for the people of Salem. One of whom has a not so pretty history with her family. She needs to stop taking the situation so casually. I beginning to think John and Marlena should have put on a plane to Hong Kong. Chad I am glad to see he is trying not to be mired in his grief he has a child to take care of and Dimera Enterprises to run but he is not in a place right now where can even think about another relationship with Gabi or anyone else he is still grieving. And since it seems this thing with Gabi does not really turn into anything serious given Billy Flynn's comments. I wish they would have kept a tighter rein on the details of this storyline. And held off on announcing the Abby recast until closer to her return. Make it more of an OMG moment. Nicole and Demios are not a good match and introduction of this baby story is not helping. While I congratulate Nadia Bjorlin on the birth of her child. I don't think it needed two be written into the show. Hope- calling JJ honey or sweetheart when they are working not professional you call him Officer Deveraux or Deveraux inject at least a little accuracy please. Best is definitely character interactions and use of history (still could be even better, but at least it's here now). But I think it's notable that the only reason I am liking people more now is that their appearances feel more proportional. That doesn't necessarily mean that the stories are better, and over time that's going to show more. Things are ... fine? But not great. But fine is better than painful. Hope and Rafe can stay in the background as a supporting couple as far as I'm concerned, they are by far best as cops. I genuinely like them as cops. Stefano's death does have to come out though. Can't lie, I am not hating Aiden back in Salem, but he works way better as slimy and self-deluding, and since I think so, I don't want him back with Hope, which is also irritating because their chemistry is better than with Rope. But that's fine, I will enjoy him just rattling Rope for now (not that I root for him outside the fact that Stefano's death needs to come to light, but it's entertaining). I'm over Kate, but if she is with Lucas and Philip it's kind of cute. Andre ... I guess I'll wait and see ... I guess ... But the Deimos-Victor-Brady-Maggie unit just have to go. Focus on Justin, Adrienne, Sonny, and Phillip for Kiriakis family stuff. I don't hate Nicole right now the way some do but I have no clue what I want for her given the current canvas (I know ...) and she's been boring for a while. Whatever they are doing with her and Deimos is making her behavior inexplicable. I can't wait for Shelle to come back, I have really liked Belle being in town and I enjoy Marlena, Belle and Claire in family scenes. I do wish they had used Belle having the Dimera money as more story for her and Chad during the summer rather than some other stuff. It was resolved pretty quickly, and even though it was a dumb idea borne of a dumb idea to begin with, it could have been used better since it was here anyway. I did like the idea of the custody battle storyline, because it was *theoretically* supposed to be about basically sympathetic characters getting into conflict with each other and I think it's important to have those kinds of things in addition to basic good guy vs bad guy stuff, which gets a little simple for me sometimes. The details were not great though. But my other complaint about it is kind of different from most (from what I've read). I do like Jennifer involved in Chabby stuff but I think they have played this People Hate Chad Because He's A Dimera thing way too hard, to the point where I just can't buy it and I always know that I can't buy it even when I like the existence of the character interactions that result from it. What works for me: Chad, an adopted kid who didn't know Stefano Dimera was his father until well into his teens, has a tricky relationship with his identity and sense of belonging. He has made some mistakes in his life that have nothing to do with his genes, and people distrust him in proportion to his actions and not his genes. What doesn't work for me: Chad being responsible for Abby's suffering because he's a Dimera and these things just happen to Dimeras. It's not real angst because it makes no sense. What people shouldn't like is Chad putting himself into Andre's orbit (for example), not Chad's genes. It's driving me nuts. And going forward it seems it will still be a big part of the Chabby dynamic and I am hoping there is more there for me because this aspect of Chabby has never been my favorite. But most of all don't make Jennifer the heavy to give Chabby an obstacle. It doesn't fit with the character she was and should be all along. I really don't need a big story for Jennifer so much as good characterization even in a supporting role. Then when the right time comes along and the story is there, etc. I like that progress has been made for S&K and I honestly feel like the incidents that have elicited that progress feel fairly deep. All the same though I still feel that their arc so far somewhat lacks some definition, for me anyway. Or punch, maybe. I do like seeing Kayla with Marlena lately and that's an interaction I thought made sense for a while. I don't hate the teens at all and I feel like I'm alone on that. I never expect them to be my favorite thing about the show, so they're not exactly disappointing me either. It is not as good as this time last year. But it's okay. I'm looking forward to some returns, Abby the most. Edited by DesignatedShelley, Sep 27 2016, 11:03 PM.

Positives: Continued use of the fantastic A Martinez as Eduardo. Give the man anything and he can make it intriguing. lessening of the teens , except as a group. Actor playing Theo is the real standout as a good actor with potential for significant role. Use of Missy Reeves esp. with return of Jack. Like that they left it unlcear that jack was really dead. A better but not great story for Nicole ( the true lead of the show) Negatives: Bad recast of Philip. Firing and rehiring of Brandon Beamer, Martha M and Sal Sowers. THis has been musical chairs. Tied to probably a contract management mistake. I hope their returns are short and jsut to say good bay if show is wrapping on NBC in 2017. Claire has no chem with Belle, or marlena. She does work well with Beamer, however. If anyone is kept it showuld be the character of Shawn. Played by Beamer or Jason Cook. Not returning Tony to push and pull with Andre. Chad is not a egacy character. it jsut does not have the gravitas that Stefano, Lexi(in her evil days) Kristin or EJ and Sami. Chad is a junior player at best. He needs support. He cannot rep Di eras. Hate having to see ing great Daniel Cosgrove misused not once but twice. HOlding onto the great Wally Kuth as Justin. If show is ending they need to reunite Justin and Adrienne. They could use him on contract again. |

So pleased that Days is bringing Greg Vaughan back as Eric. I can easily see withthe exit of Jen Lilley's Teresa leaving Salem with her parents at the end of the year. I can see Brady and Deimos having it out and it affecting his heart transplant. Also, what if Kristin was really pregnant with Eric's baby and selected to impact embryo to give the baby back to Brady to raise and be with Teresa as a family. If this fact comes out in a big way with Eric returning to Salem. He finds out that Little Tate was in fact his own son and he realizes he still loves Nicole bc she has been his soulmate his whole adult life. brady dies due to complications of heart transplant. Nicole and Eric reunite to raise baby Tate. Giving Nicole a baby to love and a family with Eric. Truly a great love story. Brady will be missed but he has loved and lived a big life in a short time. That would be a story! |

After 2015 and 2016 before the reboot, I thought it could use a lot of work. Don't get me wrong, 2015 before the reboot of Dena and Josh, just did not get me excited. But the ratings was good, surprisingly. The reboot, was great because we get to see Steve and Bo!!!! Ben was the serial killer and Abby and Chad delivered their lines perfectly! It just went downhill right after Daniel's death. And Eric being cut out of Days, along with Kate Mansi departure, I think it hurt lots of people. Plus, the Summer storyline was just awful. I was all for it, but now, no no and no! The reboot of 2016...which I call the September sweeps...I'd say-------------------------> I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer: The stories are okay but the 3 villains, stole the show in my opinion! I just feel excited because of them! Not only that....I used to despise Chloe being pregnant with Deimos baby....not anymore. I love how she and Phil is protecting the baby away from Deimos. Now I am not sure who is the baby father. And Aiden...I freaking love him! He plays shady very well! ROPE is not on much, and its a good thing! Glad that his mother is gone. Eve, I loved her bonding with her sister and even Nicole! She is even great with Justin! Happy that we see a little more of Lucas and Adrienne! Loved that we get to see Julie still hating on Gabi! Glad we see more of Theo too! This is the best September sweeps ever! Thank you Days! :thanks:  |
